A spin off from the movie Bruce Almighty, now it is Evan Baxter’s (Steve Carell) turn to meet God (Morgan Freeman) and live up to his oath to change the world. If you remember the movie Bruce Almighty, Evan was is former colleague at the Buffalo TV station with both vying the spot for news anchor.

After a successful stint as the evening news anchor, Evan has shifted to politics and is now the newly elected New York state congressman. He has large following due to his slogan and promise to change the world. Be careful for what you wish for, it might just come true. Enter God who gives Evan a chance to do just that: Build an ark, a flood is coming. Doesn’t make sense how building an ark can save the world?

Later in the movie, it is revealed that ARK stands for Act of Random Kindness, the little things that can create a greater change.

Ala Noah in the Book of Genesis, Evan finally succumbed to God’s command, but not without a beard that can never be shaven, a highly attractive force to animals of all kinds, a highly critical and disappointed wife, Joan (as in Joan of Arc, get it?) and logs of woods dropped at his door step from Go-4-Wood trucks (gopher wood was the wood Noah used for his ark).
Witty symbolisms and word plays are extensively used in the movie.

The best part for me is to see the animals – both predators and preys – marching in pairs up the ark. It makes one think how difficult was it for Noah himself to convince his flock that a flood is coming. Everyone has the capacity to change the world by a random act of kindness. Hilarious, heart-warming and touching, this movie is guaranteed to tickle your funny bones.
